Wollerau
terrace house at lake zurich
The client commissioned us with the full renovation of their new terrace house on the mezzanine floor, which offers a picturesque view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The restructuring was carried out with a clear objective: to create a harmonious combination of living comfort, functionality and the beauty of nature. The concept is based on the idea of slowing down and creating a retreat that offers both tranquillity and inspiration.
The 300 m² of living space was carefully and perfectly tailored to the client's needs. Three spacious bedrooms offer room for both family and guests, while two office rooms create an ideal working environment for the home office. The heart of the apartment is the spacious, open-plan living and kitchen area, which exudes an atmosphere of conviviality and warmth. Here, the living and dining areas merge harmoniously, making the space appear even more spacious and airy.
Deceleration as a leitmotif
The tranquillity and earthiness that both the apartment and its surroundings radiate were the main inspiration for the interior design concept. The desire to incorporate earthy tones and natural materials reflected the desire to preserve the character of the place while creating an atmosphere of deceleration.
The long window front opens generously to the outside world on one side and allows daylight to stream into the interior in all its diversity. The interior design follows a clear design language that is both expressive and harmonious and subtly reflects the style of the residents.

The interior design concept
The choice of materials and colors plays a central role in the interior design concept. The use of earthy tones and natural materials such as wood and stone creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that also conveys a sense of calm and security. The dark smoked oak in particular, which runs harmoniously through all the rooms, was deliberately retained to create a consistent, elegant overall impression.
Special accents are set by the custom-made fixtures and furniture, which are in a specially dyed greyish beige shade of oak and stand out strikingly from the floor. These elements help to visually elevate the room and lend it a certain elegance. The glass elements in combination with metal leather - carefully staged - play with light and shadow, creating a dynamic, almost floating lightness that permeates the entire interior

Interior and exterior space united by light
In order to unfold the full potential of the apartment, a carefully coordinated lighting concept was developed that plays with different light sources to create changing moods and gently illuminate the rooms as required. In this way, the connection to nature remains tangible within the apartment at all times, with the garden design playing an equally central role in the overall concept. The outdoor area was designed to create a seamless extension to the living space.

Materialization and furnishing
The spacious and elegant sofa landscape by Girogetti S.p.A invites you to relax and linger. The large, hand-knotted carpets, which were custom-made according to the individual color preferences of the interior, give the rooms a personal touch. As a harmonious link, the innovative Pietra Zen wall plaster made from a lime base and marble powder provides the finishing touch and perfectly rounds off the atmosphere of the open-plan living space.

Kitchen living space - more than just cooking
Fior di Pesco marble was chosen for the kitchen, a simple yet exquisite material whose delicate veins radiate calm in its fine gray. This stone, carved directly from a block, not only adorns the worktops, but also characterizes the entire ambience of the kitchen. The marble is a recurring design element throughout the interior - in the dining table, the fireplace and the washbasin in the master bathroom - and lends the rooms an unmistakable, elegant atmosphere that is both luxurious and calming.

Shimmering oasis of calm
A highlight of this master suite is the metallic wallpaper inspired by gold leaf, which perfectly accentuates the artfully upholstered headboard with pleated satin. The combination of modern and classic elements gives the room a unique charm that combines nostalgic elegance with contemporary style.

Elegance meets function
In the bathrooms, the sanitary fittings were renewed and supplemented with custom-made elements. In keeping with the interior concept, the washbasins were made of Fior di Pesco marble together with the covers and basins. These exquisite, handcrafted details lend the bathrooms a special, timeless elegance and blend harmoniously into the overall concept.
